For over nine decades, this picnic has brought the Norwin community together on the first Wednesday in August — a tradition that dates back to the days when local shop owners closed early so everyone could spend the evening together. Nearly a century later, that same spirit of community is still what makes this event special, and the Norwin Chamber is working hard to keep it growing and bringing even more neighbors from across the greater Pittsburgh region and Westmoreland County out to Irwin Park.

The best part? Admission is completely free.

What to Expect at Irwin Park

The picnic runs from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with free shuttle service from Calvary Church running the entire time.

Character Races

We have another fun surprise up our sleeves this year… the same local business owner behind Palarino's Steel City Car Wash, Sarris Candy's Gift Basket World, and Club Pure Imagination is bringing some extra magic to the park! Think team members dressed up as everyone's favorite Minions, Buzz Lightyear, and Woody, with a Minion-themed race that's shaping up to be just as much fun as a certain pierogi race Pittsburghers already know and love. Keep an eye out for them wandering the park.

Don't Miss the Food Trucks

Hungry? You’re in good company. We recently listed this year’s food truck lineup on our Facebook page, so be sure to follow along there for the latest updates on who’s rolling into Irwin Park this year. Trust us, the grub will be good!
